Once college students graduate, they may forget about the college’s resources. Places like the college career center and alumni relations can be vital partners in your search. Join the alumni organization now. Contact some fellow grads to find out their experiences with the center or alumni office.  Ask the career counselor or alumni office for a list of contacts in your geography and targeted occupational and industrial areas.  Find out local events sponsored by your college where you can meet alumni.  Even if you graduated a few years ago, contact some professors in your desired field to refer you to any former students they know working in that area.  You’d be surprised what a difference these contacts can make.
